When you think of a Michelin starred restaurant, street food may not be the first thing that pops in your mind.
However, the arrival of Hawker Chan will make you think twice. The Singaporean street food vendor has arrived in Melbourne – and it is the cheapest Michelin starred restaurant you can find.
Known for its Hong Kong style chicken and rice dish, Chef Chan Hon Meng has teamed up with Hersing Culinary (which brought Tim Ho Wan to Melbourne earlier) to bring Hawker Chan to Melbourne.
The menu is built on chopped to order Char Siu (BBQ Pork), roast pork and pork ribs (Hong Kong style).
Prices start at $6.80 for soy chicken on rice with a few other different items on the menu.
The service will be fast-food like, where staff will not be walking around taking orders – rather you line up to order and collect yourself.
Hawker Chan will be open daily from 10am-10pm and is located at 157 Lonsdale St, Melbourne.
